Tragic Incident: A Dream Car Turned to Ashes in Tokyo
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young Japanese music producer witnessed his dream of owning a brand-new Ferrari 458 Spider go up in flames just an hour after he drove it for the first time. The incident, which has captured the attention of social media, raises questions about the safety and reliability of luxury vehicles.
Dream Realized, Then Devastated
Honkon, a 33-year-old music producer known for his work with the Japanese idol group Chocorabi, had saved for a decade to purchase his prized Ferrari. On April 16, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to recount the harrowing experience. Following the recent delivery of the vehicle, he embarked on a test drive on the Shuto Expressway in Tokyo when he noticed an alarming cloud of white smoke.
Initially attributing the smoke to another vehicle beside him, Honkon quickly realized the smoke was emanating from his own car. In a panic, he pulled over, exited the vehicle, and contacted emergency services. Witnessing his dream car engulfed in flames over the next 20 minutes was a devastating moment for him.

Investigation Underway
Honkon took to social media to express his disbelief, stating, “I think I’m the only person in Japan to have experienced such trouble. I spent 43 million yen ($306,000) and all I got was this photo.” In the wake of the incident, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department reported that there was no evidence of a collision, though an investigation is currently ongoing. Preliminary assessments suggest the fire may have originated from the car’s engine, but the precise cause remains undetermined.

Despite the catastrophe, Honkon remains grateful for his safety, fearing that the situation could have escalated into an explosion. This unfortunate incident serves as a cautionary tale for luxury car owners and raises important concerns about automotive safety.
