Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) made the headlines last week as the institution witnessed what could be tagged one of the biggest uproar it has ever seen within her walls as students came out in their thousands to protest alleged harassment and arrest of their fellow colleagues and their SUP, Sodiq Ridwan.
The story had it that some student of the institution were assaulted and extorted by some stop-and-search soldiers of the Nigerian army around Conoil Filling Station close to the school gate. A protest was then staged immediately against this led by the Student uion president (SUP), Ridwan which also led to his arrest.
However, a very prominent member of the school has revealed to Siggy the true story behind what really caused the gruesome uproar from the students.

In his report, the Vice-Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, Prof Wole Banjo, allegedly ordered soldiers to the campus after students deflated the car tyres of a dean who sexually assaulted a female student.
It was gathered that the boyfriend of the assaulted female student mobilised other students to “deal with” the promiscuous dean by deflating his car tyres after the senior lecturer spanked the buttocks of his girlfriend.

The action of the students angered the dean who informed the VC who in turn invited soldiers to the campus to search for the students and brutalise them.
The source said, “Students are still being brutalised in TASUED. This is what actually happened; a dean spanked the buttocks of a female student. Then the boyfriend of the girl got upset and went to destroy the car tyres of the dean. The dean then reported to the VC who called soldiers to the school premises to harass students with cars.
“The Students’ Union president also stepped in and paid N50,000 for the soldiers to release the students; the soldiers collected the money from the SU president, and still whisked him and other students away.
