Following the heavy protest from students of Tai Solarin university of Education (TASUED) that left Sagamu-Benin expressway blocked leaving thousands of travellers stranded, the Nigerian Army has finally released the Student Union President (SUP) of the institution, Sodiq Ridwan.

According to a previous report from Siggy, Ridwan was arrested on Friday after intervening in a protest by the students against soldiers.
The protest started few minutes after some Army operatives started searching students moving in different cars along Conoil Filling Station, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode.

The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Asefon Sunday has confirmed the release of Ridwan.
He informed other students arrested were accused of Fraud and subsequently moved to the office of Electronic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.
“The President and other student officials who were arrested have been released. Others were alleged of fraud and have been moved to EFCC office at Ibadan.

“If truly it’s fraud, their families should face it out with the EFCC. I won’t get involved in that,” he said.
