Mother Convicted After Controversial TikTok Prank
A 24-year-old mother from Helsingborg, Sweden, has made headlines after being convicted of harassment for a TikTok prank that involved cracking an egg on her daughter’s forehead. The incident has raised questions about the boundaries of parenting and social media trends.
Prank Gone Wrong
The incident occurred last summer when the mother, excited to involve her daughter in what she described as a fun baking activity for TikTok, suddenly cracked an egg on the child’s forehead. The yolk ran down the girl’s face as she expressed her discomfort, telling her mother it hurt and pleading for her to stop.
The video, which garnered around 100,000 views, caught the attention of viewers—one of whom reported it to the authorities. This led to a harassment investigation, with the mother becoming a suspect in a case against her own child.
Legal Consequences
During the trial, prosecutor Cecilia Andersson criticized the mother’s actions, stating, “To record and humiliate the child and then broadcast it to thousands of viewers – I find that incredibly degrading.” She emphasized that what was intended as a playful moment turned into a shocking incident for the young girl, who anticipated a fun experience baking with her mother.
Despite the mother’s defense that the act was merely a trendy TikTok prank, the judge found her guilty of harassment. Subsequently, she was fined SEK 20,000 (approximately $2,070), a sum to be paid to her daughter. The court’s decision highlights a growing scrutiny of parenting practices in the age of social media.
