Record-Breaking Motorist Stops Traffic in France
A remarkable incident unfolded in Rhone, France, where a motorist may have set a dubious record for driving without a valid license, insurance, or technical inspection for over 28 years. What began as a routine traffic stop quickly escalated into a surprising revelation for the local police.
Unprecedented Traffic Stop Reveals Shocking Truth
Last week, traffic officers in Rhone pulled a vehicle over during a standard check due to an expired technical inspection. To their astonishment, they discovered further infringements. Upon reviewing the driver’s documentation, it became clear that the vehicle lacked insurance, and even more concerning, the driver’s license had been revoked since 1997. The driver nonchalantly informed the officer that his license had been taken away after a DUI incident, and he simply never bothered to obtain a new one. He likened his old license to “an expired but still edible yogurt.”
In a post on their Facebook page, the Tarare police detailed the encounter: “First, a check of the files revealed that the vehicle was not covered by insurance. But then came the time to check the validity of the driver’s license. And then: surprise! The highlight of the show came when the driver’s license was checked: the man had been driving without a license since… 1997!”
How Did This Happen?
What remains perplexing is how the individual managed to evade law enforcement scrutiny for nearly three decades. The driver apparently reasoned that without a valid license, there was no need for mandatory insurance or vehicle inspections. However, this long-standing practice is unlikely to earn him any accolades; instead, he will face legal consequences and a court date.
